There are always scholarships available, you just have to take the time to look for them. There are so many websites to find scholarship opportunities, which even includes CCBC’s homepage. You may become discouraged if the qualifications do not fit your circumstances or if you apply, but do not get accepted. This is NORMAL!
The best advice I can give you is not to give up, but keep trying! Personally, I applied for over twenty scholarships and got seven of them. I put all my effort and best work into each scholarship and I’m proud of my outcome. I feel so proud and grateful that I got the opportunity to accept the scholarships. It may not seem like much to some people, but when you put into perspective how many other people applied, you realize your accomplishment and honor of becoming the recipient. You will be surprised with how much just one scholarship will lift some weight off your shoulders and give you a boost of confidence.
Apply, apply, APPLY. I can’t stress enough how important it is to keep applying and keeping all your information organized. The best thing to do is to get a notebook or binder solely for scholarships. In the notebook or binder, write down scholarships you’re interested in, the deadline for scholarships, and the notification date of the winner. Keep everything you do as organized as possible. Along with continuous applications and organization skills, comes the individualized essay portion of some scholarships. Make your essays as personal and individualized as possible. Show the scholarship committee your personality and work ethic. Show your motivation and be confident.
Scholarships will take some financial stress out of your life, so apply any time you can! Good Luck!
